Numina Powers Urban Data Intelligence
Numina has raised $2.46 million to build AI-powered urban sensing technology that helps cities make data-driven decisions about transportation and public space usage. The company addresses a critical gap in urban planning: the lack of real-time, privacy-preserving data about how people actually use city infrastructure.
AI-Powered Urban Sensing
Numina deploys sensor hardware and computer vision software that anonymously tracks pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle movement patterns in urban environments. Unlike surveillance cameras, Numina's sensors are designed with privacy as a core principle: they process visual data at the edge and output only anonymized movement statistics. This privacy-preserving approach enables deployment in contexts where traditional surveillance would face public opposition and regulatory barriers.
The Smart City Data Foundation
Cities worldwide are investing billions in smart city infrastructure, but many initiatives fail because they lack the foundational data layer needed to make informed decisions. Numina provides this foundation by generating continuous, accurate data about how urban spaces are actually used. This data informs transportation planning, infrastructure investment, safety improvements, and public space design with evidence rather than assumptions.
